Butler vs UConn Odds: Preview of the NCAA Championship Game - Lamb & Walker

After a month of college basketball betting madness, March is gone and April is here and with it, the NCAA Championship Game. The Connecticut Huskies are 3.5-point favorites over the Butler Bulldogs.

No. 3 Connecticut Huskies (31-9, 22-12 ATS) has displaced waves of tough opponents during its 10-game winning streak. Despite facing tough competition, UConn is a ridiculous 9-1 in its past 10 games against the spread. The Huskies covered as 2.5-point underdogs in Saturday’s 56-55 win over Kentucky.

Without a doubt, UConn’s fantastic run has revolved around Kemba Walker. With another solid game—and a victory—the junior guard will put the finishing touches on a tournament MVP campaign. Walker scored 18 points while adding seven assists and six rebounds against the Wildcats. That’s just more of the same for the star, who is averaging 25.0 points, 6.8 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game during March Madness.

While Walker has grabbed headlines, freshman Jeremy Lamb has quietly played fantastic under the radar. The swingman racked up 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists against Kentucky, and he’s averaging 17.0 points and 4.4 boards per game thus far. When Walker is covered, Lamb will be counted on to deliver scoring.

No. 8 Butler Bulldogs (28-9, 20-14-1 ATS) is back in the title game for the second consecutive year. The Bulldogs are riding a 14-game winning streak, including a 7-0 run on college basketball odds. They ended VCU’s dream season with a 70-62 win in the Final Four.

It’s hard to find someone who’s played better than Walker, but Butler’s Shelvin Mack is at least in the conversation. The junior guard burned Virginia-Commonwealth for 24 points, his third game during tournament play with 24-plus points. Mack is averaging 21.8 points through five tournament games, and you can’t get any hotter than he was against VCU (8-for-11 from the field).

Mack’s partner-in-crime is senior forward Matt Howard. Howard finished with 17 points and eight rebounds against VCU, giving him 16.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during the NCAA Tournament. Howard has a flair for the dramatic and can be counted on for clutch play in the game’s closing minutes.
