Free NFL Betting Picks Eagles in Cincy to Take on Terrell Owens

It’s week three for preseason NFL Betting Picks and the lone game Friday night features the new look Philadelphia Eagles versus the walking tabloids, Cincinnati Bengals. Terrell Owens gets to face some of his old buddies, if he has any, although TO facing a former team is losing its lustre now that he’s has so many exes. The Bengals will be his fifth team, and quite possibly the most dysfunctional as their roster is a who’s who of league degenerates, with Pacman Jones being the number one culprit.

Both teams are coming off wins; for the Bengals it was game number two of the 2010 NFL Preseason while the Eagles won their first game of the year. The NFL Betting Picks have been coming in and it’s the Bengals who are favored for their third straight preseason game, so my theory is that the team that is in the spotlight the most gets the nod from the bookmakers, in preseason at least.

For the Eagles, it was the first game in the post-McNabb era and new starting quarterback Kevin Kolb looked sharp in his first action since getting the promotion. They managed to pull out a 28-27 win over Jacksonville, which was actually a very entertaining game. Michael Vick had himself a good ball game, racking up 50-yards on the ground on six carries and went 11-of-17 through the air for 119 yards. He did throw an interception but he also scored a rushing touchdown, so it evens out in a way.

I was a little unsure of when I was making my NFL Betting Picks in the Eagles first game because of the new quarterback situation, but after watching their performance last week, I’m much more confident in this team.
Cincinnati got in the win column this preseason with a 33-24 win over the Denver Broncos last Sunday. It wasn’t pretty to start with as they got into an early 14-0 hole in the first quarter, but starting quarterback Carson Palmer got the offense going and they never looked back. He finished the day 12-of-15 for 105 yards which was a nice bounce back after struggling in the preseason opener against Dallas.

But the real bright spot for Cincy was their running game, racking up a whopping 191 yards on 40 carries.  Bernard Scott did the majority of the damage with eight carries for 65 yards, and was also active in the passing game with two catches for 48 yards. James Johnson picked up 42 yards on 10 carries and picked up a touchdown while Cedric Benson added 30 yards on nine carries and had his self a rushing touchdown as well.

But after watching what the Eagles, my NFL betting pick is leaning towards them in this one. Andy Reid knows this is a big year as they’ve made huge offseason changes, and if this team doesn’t produce, he’ll take the majority of the blame.

That, and you never know what you’re going to get from the Bengals on any given Sunday.
